Battlefield Bad Company 2 Footage (unlocks video)

It may be delayed because of Modern Warfare 2, but who says it won’t be awesome? The video shows some cool unlocks and in my opinion Modern Warfare 2 is years behind in the graphics department. The following footage shows some of the unlocks that you get with the limited edition of Battlefield: Bad Company 2, out March 2nd 2010. Six early unlocks will be awarded to buyers of the Limited Edition of Bad Company 2, which will carry the same MSRP as the regular version.

EA and developer DICE narrowly dodged public outcry when they changed their minds about charging extra for weapon unlocks in the first Battlefield: Bad Company, and it looks like they’ve applied the lessons learned from that near-fiasco to Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Like the previous game, it’s been announced that the Limited Edition of Bad Company 2 will grant players an immediate multiplayer advantage in the form of a few early weapon unlocks; unlike the first Bad Company, however, this Limited Edition will go for the same price as the standard version of the game.

So what day-one benefits are there to buying the Limited Edition of Bad Company 2? Check out the full list below:

* Improved Vehicle Armor — An up-armor package is mounted on all vehicle types, decreasing the effect of both explosive and penetrating warheads, significantly improving vehicle survivability.
* Supreme Vehicle Firepower — Additional weapon packages are mounted for the driver of all armored vehicles, greatly expanding the range of targets the vehicle can successfully engage and destroy.
* Vehicle Motion Sensor — Use this electronics warfare package to locate enemy units in direct proximity to the vehicle.
* Tracer Dart Pistol — This magnetic dart attaches to any vehicle surface, allowing squad members to track, lock on, and fire rockets onto moving targets even beyond line of sight.
* M1A1 Submachine Gun — Reliable but heavy, this classic weapon is a powerful force in the hands of any Battlefield veteran.
* M1911 Pistol — Highly customized M1911 are favored for its dependability and the power of its large .45 caliber round.

While each of these unlocks will eventually become available to anyone who sticks with the game, their inclusion with the Limited Edition of the Bad Company 2 — and at no extra cost — should incentivize early adoption.

Will you be going out of your way to nab the Limited Edition when the game releases next March? Or are you more comfortable with earning your unlocks the old fashioned way?

Sick video. But what’s with the Limited Edition being the same price as the regular edition? That’s pretty unusual… there’s gotta be more to this.
